Apparently Spitzer didn't realize that prostitution is legal in Canada, and Montreal is much closer to Albany than D.C.

4. If using a pseudonym, make up a phony address. Revealing the marital residence on Fifth Avenue is a bad idea.

Prostitution is legal in Canada? Well, I guess Spitzer isn't as smart as he thinks he is! Montreal is a LOT closer to Albany.
What fascinates me about things like this is that the perp always seems to think he can do whatever and no one will mind. There'll be winks for him but everyone else who breaks the law will be arrested and charged. That thought process -- fascinating. It's like he's completely cut off from the rest of the world and other people entirely. Well, that's a narcissist for you....(smile)
I do give Spitzer credit for resigning as quickly as he did.
