The scariest part of all is that someone thought it was a good idea.

Constitutional Amendment anyone?
Independence Minnesota (our big 3rd party) is soliciting opinions regarding a proposal: reduce the state legislature to one house. Unicameral legislature? Talk about changing the way gov't runs!

One chamber only is preferable, if the government should do something; but two chambers are better, if the government should do nothing, except in those cases where ALL agree that something needs to be done. American tradition follows the saying of Jefferson that the government is best that governs least, and that is best accomplished by two chambers that regularly block each other, except if ALL want cooperation. ALL means here the constituents of the legislators like mainstream media, corporations, public sector unions, lobbyists, the social class of most legislators, the chamber of commerce, and the like. I, like most people, don't belong to ALL, and I prefer a single chamber.
